We’re an informal group of Alaskans who are part of an ongoing discussion about what a grassroots, homegrown political party could look like. We’re building community and organizing across Alaska and we want you to contribute your voice and unique skills.

Only about 24% of Alaskans are registered Republicans and only about 12% are registered Democrats. However, these two parties pack the legislature and drive our political discourse while a significant majority of Alaskans are simply non-partisan and undeclared voters who exist without the benefit of any organizing structure.

In Alaska, our political independence is a badge of honor for many, but when it comes time for collective action, our efforts can feel scattershot or isolated. Capacity has to be built anew for each issue or campaign and there’s little room for the development of a long term vision.

In 2020, Alaskan voters approved the “Alaska Top-Four Ranked-Choice Voting and Campaign Finance Laws Initiative.” This new system of voting shifted major decisions from partisan primary elections into the general elections and opened up a new world of possibilities for small parties and local political groups to organize. Early conversations began about what it might look like to form a new party for Alaskans under this new system.

In 2022 we formalized our effort and began to explore the question of what a new party could look like. The conversation was re-kindled in 2025 against an increasingly partisan national backdrop.

We are Alaskans with a desire to find ways to develop good policy outside of a binary framework. We’re interested in a party that isn’t driven by outside funding and priorities. We’re interested in a party that operates specifically for the benefit of Alaskans. We want something that isn’t driven by a top-down party leadership agenda but a bottom-up model rooted in community gatherings and conversations. What could that party look like?
